Now there you are in a new town, a new country maybe even a new continent. The first time you are immersed in chinese culture, the different characters, the strange sound of the language and a new type of smell that is present in all the streets (and below them as well). You find yourself in Taipei City, in Taiwan or Republic of China – R.O.C. – in the Gongguan area. Maybe you’re here for a student exchange (as was I) or for a conference in the university or one of the many reasons you’ve come to this neighbourhood close to the National Taiwan University.
